Parish Groups
Our Parish community is a thriving hub of various group activities, each in their own way contributing to the building up of our Catholic family. From prayer and service to expressing your creativity, there is much on offer for you.
Wednesday Word
Come whenever you can to explore the riches of the Scriptures.
We meet online via Zoom from 2pm - 3pm
each Wednesday to read the Scriptures of the coming Sunday and reflect on them as a group.
This is a wonderful opportunity to discover the voice of God in your life through his Word.
You are most welcome.
If you would like to join us, contact Maria, the pastoral assistant.

St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP)

The St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) is an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing direct practical assistance to anyone in need.
By joining our SVP group you can help to support individuals and families in need.
Volunteering with the SVP is an opportunity to make a difference to people's lives. Loneliness has been described by Mother Teresa as the great western disease and a large part of activities is visiting the sick, the lonely, and the elderly. You don't need to have experience, an obvious skill, or come from a particular social background.
The SVP run a Chatter Café on Wednesdays after the 9:15am Mass in the Lower Room.
Come along, meet some of our members and find out more!
Legion of Mary

Founded in 1921 by the Servant of God Frank Duff, the Legion of Mary is a worldwide apostolic organisation within the Church that, inspired by the example of Mary, Our Mother, aims to glorify the Lord and to work for the salvation of souls.
As Christians, Jesus has given us the mission to "Go and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19-20), which is what the Legion of Mary does through prayer and good works.
We have a Legion of Mary group in Exeter, meeting on Fridays at 6pm at Sacred Heart in the Lower Room. We pray together, we share our faith, and we do works of care and spreading the faith in our city.
If you would like to join or just hear more, please come along and meet our members.

Catholic Women's League

The Catholic Women's League is a National Organisation meeting with others countrywide. We welcome any lady of the parishes to the CWL.
The CWL hold monthly women's meetings with occasional speakers, on the the Third Tuesday of each month at 2:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Parish Room. Any changes are notified in the Parish Newsletters.
We also support our Parish Priests and Churches. On Saturdays we serve tea and coffee after the 9:15am Mass to fundraise for local & international Charities.
Creative Arts Group

The Sacred Heart Arts Group, through drama, music, and various forms of visual displays, seek to demonstrate how the creative arts can enhance Parish life. Recently, we have undertaken some adventurous projects such as:
“Change and Continuity” – a dramatized history of the Catholic Church in Exeter.
“Blitz” – a re-enactment of the night of the Exeter Blitz in 1942
“Murder is Served”- with audience participation and plentiful food.
Throughout the year, we
· set up regular visual displays, according to the liturgical calendar
· help decorate the church for Christmas
· build an Easter Garden
· assist with the co-ordination of special celebratory events
New members are always welcome (especially younger ones). You do not need to be especially artistic or creative. We are a friendly group with a very informal approach.
Knit & Natter

This lively get together is usually held on the first Friday of every month after 10am Mass, in the lower room. Here we share ideas about different crafts, help each other with patterns that we are battling with along with a nice cuppa and tasty treat. You are encouraged to bring what ever hand work you are busy with or, if you would only like to come for a natter, that is fine too! All people are welcome.
Contact Coral at the parish office if you have any questions.
